Vascular lesions such as spider vessels and redness from rosacea are also lightened and gradually fade. Uneven skin pigmentation can also be treated with IPL. This procedure can help promote collagen production, reduce the appearance of red or brown spots, and reduce pore size. IPL treatment is most ideal for skin types 1-3.
For best results, skin should not be tanned. After treatment, skin may be slightly pink, but color should improve within a few hours. Brown spots that have been treated with IPL typically become darker after treatment, but should slough off naturally within the first week. Scrubbing the spots is not advisable. Your recommended amount of treatments will depend on your level of sun damage, but most patients can achieve their desired outcome after 3-5 treatments approximately 3-4 weeks apart.
